  • I want to get into cycling but I’m a bit rusty!Don’t worry, we’ve got members of all abilities and we encourage everyone to take part. We never leave anyone behind on a ride and all take care of each other.
  • I’m a bit scared of riding on the road…The road can be a scary place at times, but with a bit of help from other riders, your confidence will soon grow. On our club runs we try to avoid the main roads at busy times and stick to quieter routes.
  • Do I need all the gear?Your bike doesn’t have to be fancy, just reliable. Once you’ve decided what sort of riding you like you can then decide what to upgrade to. It’s always a good idea to ask around other club members for advice on what to spend your money on and sometimes have good quality used stuff for sale.
  • I want to ride road but have a hybrid/mountain bike…We accept large wheeled hybrid bikes but not mountain bikes. To make it easier on yourself, get some slick road tyres – it’ll make your rides far more easier and enjoyable! You also find it much easier if you get ‘clip in’ type pedals and shoes so you don’t waste energy. Hybrid bikes (large wheels) are set up similar to a road bike so are generally fine on rides, however mountain bikes have a different gear set up and do not mix with road/hybrid bikes in terms of pace.
  • I’m under 18, can I join? You can but you’ll need your parent or guardian to sign your membership form. In addition, they will need to join the club and accompany you on all club rides, runs and meetings.
