Just over 250 people ranging in age from Under 6’s to seasoned veterans tackled the Wythenshawe Park round of the North West Cyclocross Association (NWCCA) race on Sunday 21st September. The old pitch and putt course provided plenty of fast and fun racing; with off cambers and some fun sections on parts of the MTB trails. A sunny Sunday saw a busy Park with lots of public interest in the hugely successful event arranged by North Cheshire Clarion Cycling Club (NCC). Fantastic support from the club both with respect to participants and volunteers. Over 20 junior entries from North Cheshire Clarion and a further 9 from the seniors, with the club represented on 6 podiums.
There was also a large number of volunteers from the club to enable the event to run smoothly; marshaling the course, signing in, car park duties etc. These were kept happy by plenty of hot drinks, home made cakes and even pizza, distributed by the juniors who had competed in the early events! The organisers did a fantastic job arriving early to set up the course and then clearing up to not leave a trace at the end (other than some tyre tracks).
It was great to have some really positive feedback from the riders, including one who said it was the best course he had ridden in over 10 years.
