Below are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions about NCC Juniors:

We meet at a car park between Decathlon, Warrington and Vale Royal College and Orford Jubilee Hub on Jubilee Way in Warrington.

Saturday mornings. New riders should attend the 10:00 session. Please arrive for 9:45 for sign-on and other arrangements.

£10.50 annual membership to the North Cheshire Clarion Cycling Club. (includes membership to National Clarion). First ‘taster’ session is free of charge. Subsequent sessions are £2 per session for members and £3 per session for non-members.

6 to 16 years of age. There are opportunities for older riders in the adult section of the club.

Yes you do need a bike and it needs to be in good mechanical working order.

Any sort of bike will do for general coaching sessions as long as it is in good mechanical order and the correct size. We may occasionally hold discipline-specific coaching sessions that will require discipline-specific bikes to participate. Please see our New Members Pack in the Useful Documents section for further information.

All riders must wear a helmet that fits correctly and we recommend that riders wear cycling mitts or gloves. All riders must wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions. Make sure clothing isn’t baggy, laces are tucked away, trousers tucked into socks, and coats and toggles can’t get caught on handlebars or moving parts. Yes, bring a drink and some snacks to keep energy levels up. A filled water bottle is essential.

You should have basic bike skills and be riding without stabilisers. The aim of the club is to develop skills, so all are welcome.

We have full liability insurance through our affiliation to the sports governing body: British Cycling.

We have a Code of Conduct that we expect all riders and parents/carers to adhere to. Our main aim is for kids to have fun in a safe controlled environment. Please see our New Members Pack in the Useful Documents section for further information on our Code of Conduct.

All coaching sessions are held in a traffic-free, controlled environment, which has been risk-assessed. There are opportunities for our NCC Junior riders to ride on the road with the junior club and with the main club (in accordance with our Young Rider Policy).

Yes we do, but racing participation is solely at the discretion of your child. Some coaching sessions will contain a competitive element, but the emphasis will be on taking part and improving technique rather than winning. Members who are keen to race will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of youth races across the North West. Please refer to the Racing Section of this page.

You don’t need to be fit to join the club. The aim of the club is to include all and develop skills and fitness through regular attendance.

FUN! The aim of all sessions is to have fun. Built around this ethos is a structured session that contains a warm up and fun activities Riders will be coached in bike handling skills, which will develop all aspects of bike riding. The sessions will finish with a fun challenge or opportunity for some friendly competition and, finally, a warm down.

Yes there is ample parking at our coaching venue.

There are changing facilities and toilets at Orford Jubilee Hub.

Sessions will still go ahead if it rains, unless the rain is torrential. Sessions will be cancelled in the event of thunder and lightning. In the event of cancellation we will contact parents/carers as soon as possible by FaceBook, twitter, text or email as appropriate.

On rare occasions Saturday morning sessions may not be held every week due to other events/commitments. These occasions are kept to a minimum however as we are committed to providing regular reliable coaching sessions for our members. In the event of short notice cancellation (for weather/unforeseen event) we will contact parents/carers as soon as possible by FaceBook, twitter, text or email as appropriate.

Emergency contact numbers are available at coaching sessions for all club members, and parents will be contacted by phone. For new members/non-members contact details will be taken at the start of the session.
