The club provides structured Go-Ride coaching sessions delivered by British Cycling qualified coaches who have also attended courses on child protection, equity, and hold a current first aid certificate.
Go-Ride Clubs deliver coaching activities in traffic-free environments. Any type of bike can be used, so long as it is in good condition, and a cycling helmet must be worn. The sessions teach the necessary skills to make riders more competent, safer cyclists.
As part of the programme, NCC has a club welfare officer, who has attended a child protection course.
NCC Go-Ride outdoor coaching sessions take place on Saturday mornings from Spring to Autumn, usually starting early in April, pausing in August and finishing in mid/late October.
The Saturday coaching session is divided into two parts:
- 10:00 – 11:00 for novice and intermediate riders
- 11:00 – 12:00 for higher intermediate and advanced riders
The outdoor coaching sessions are replaced with indoor turbo/roller training sessions during the late Autumn and Winter months. These sessions are usually held at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
