Our younger members headed into Delamere Forest under the cover of darkness for our annual Halloween Spooky Bike Ride. Ghosts, Witches, Wizards, Skeletons and all manner of ghoulish freaks cycled their way through the woods. There were lots of whoops and screams to be heard, could it be that these woods really are haunted?
21 young riders (plus their parents) joined in the fun. We split into three groups, one of our coaches took the advanced riders out into the depths of the forest on some challenging (and muddy) sections, another took the intermediate group out for some singletrack fun while the younger riders were taken for a lap of the lake looking for werewolves, witches and gruffalos.
All three groups headed back to our ‘enchanted glen’ which over the years has become our favourite meeting place. Yet again, our wonderful parents had done a fantastic job of decorating the clearing and everyone was thrilled to see all the carved pumpkins lit up in the darkness. The twinkling lights, cobwebs and all manner of spooky (and grizzly) decorations hanging from the trees were really cool!
Hot chocolate, hot dogs and well deserved treats awaited our riders upon their return before the prizes were handed out. The prize for best outfits went to the amazing Harry Potter costumes, the broomsticks on the bikes were an awesome addition! The best pumpkin prize this year was swayed by the scary teeth that really impressed the judges.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s spooky bike ride such a great event; the organisers, the helpers, the ride leaders and all the parents, we couldn’t do it without you. It really is appreciated.
See you next year!
